A new type of national visa has been approved, called a digital nomad visa, which allows certain people who are working in their country of origin or residence to reside in Spain.

This visa is aimed specifically at those people whose work in their country of origin or residence can be carried out on-line and at they can reside in Spain at least 6 months per year. It is a visa for people who are entrepreneurs, managers, self-employed workers, etc. who are working in a company, but do not have to work in their country of origin or where the offices and headquarters of the company for which they work are located.

A very interesting aspect of this new visa is that it can be applied for from Spain, it can be done by a professional as long as they have the signature recognised by the ministry in charge of these procedures, it can also be done on-line so there is no need to apply for this visa in person.

Another quite interesting aspect is the initial residence time once you are granted the digital nomad visa if you apply for it from Spain, which is 3 years of initial residence and another 2 years of additional residence, are granted once the residence is renewed, and then you can get permanent residence.

It is a visa with enormous advantages, there are no long waiting times to complete the procedures like in the consulates,as the evaluation of the documentation in Spain is usually more flexible, and the processing of the visa is handled by a very professional agency of the ministry called UGE.

Also important is the resolution time, which for this visa is 20 working days, and if the approval is not resolved during those 20 days, it is approved by law after 21 days.
